Last week, US lawmakers passed what might be the most significant piece of crypto legislation to date, the GENIUS Act. A bipartisan bill that finally brings stablecoins under federal regulation.

The markets responded instantly. Ethereum rallied, crypto payments stocks surged, and institutional sentiment shifted. But beyond the price action lies a much bigger narrative.

The act introduces clear guardrails for fiat-backed stablecoins:

Monthly attestations by registered public accountants

Licensing of stablecoin issuers through a federal framework

For the first time, stablecoin issuers know how to comply and that unlocks real utility.

Visa, Shopify, and PayPal have all dabbled in stablecoin rails. But regulatory uncertainty always held them back. With clarity in place, the door is open for:

Why This Is Incredibly Bullish for Ethereum

The vast majority of stablecoins, including USDC, USDT, and PayPal USD are live on Ethereum or its Layer 2s. As stablecoin volume grows, Ethereum becomes the invisible highway behind trillions in real-world value.

Institutional players aren’t missing this. ETF flows into ETH are picking up, and narratives around Ethereum as a settlement layer for the global internet economy are gaining traction.
